About JEE
The Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) Mains is a kind of Entrance examination for undergraduate engineering programs. for those candidates whose desire to make his future in engineering in National Institute of Technology(NITs), Indian Institute of Technology(IITs) and other centrally funded technical institutes across the country.
JEE Main is conducted by NTA(National Testing Agency) twice in a year. By which Candidates can take admission in BE, Btech, BPlan, and BArch courses

Eligibility Criteria For JEE Main
NAT has released some eligibility criteria for JEE Main paper. so candidates are required to fulfill multiple aspects to become eligible to appear for this national level engineering entrance examination.
1. Age Factor
- In JEE Main entrance examination is not have an age limit, but the candidate should not be less than 17 Years.
- Candidate should be passed 12th Examination.
- Candidate should satisfy the eligibility of age limit requirements of the institute they want to take admission.
2. The qualifying examination subject
- Candidate appearing for jee main must have passed class 12th with Physics & Mathematics as a compulsory subject along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational, For B. Arch (Paper 2) Physics, Chemistry& mathematics are mandatory in 10+2.
- Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2020 or before can apply too.
- Those who are appearing in their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination
- Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination before can apply too.
- Candidates who will appear in the Class 12th/Qualifying examination. are not eligible to appear in JEE Main
3. How may attempt allowed in JEE Main
- A candidate is allowed to attempt the exam for three consecutive years. From 2020, JEE Main exam will be held twice a year – first in January and the second time in April. Thus, the number of attempts will be six in total – twice each year for 3 years
- In case a student appears for both the exams in a year, the better of the two scores will be used for the purpose of ranking in the merit list. Though there is no mandate to appear for the exam twice. It depends on the candidate's choice
- In case an aspirant wants to take more attempts then he or she has to appear for JEE Main consecutively (back to back) in three years. Which means one cannot take a gap year in the attempt.
4. Document required for the entrance examination
- Photograph in JPEG format- 10 KB to 100KB (size), 3.5cm x 4.5cm (dimensions)
- Aadhaar card number (not mandatory)
- Class 10 certificate
- Class 12 mark sheet
5. Qualifying Mark
- To appear in JEE Main, the minimum qualifying marks (for admission to NITs, IIITs, IITs, and CFTIs) that aspirants require is 75% (aggregate) OR
- They should be in the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 exam conducted by respective Boards.
- For reserved candidates, the minimum qualifying marks is 65%.
6. List of the qualifying examination
- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University exam held by a recognized Board or University.
- The final exam of the two-year course of Joint Services Wing of the NDA (National Defence Academy)
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School / University / Board exam in India or abroad recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU (Association of Indian Universities).
- HSC vocational examination (Only for Admission to IITs)
- A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education of a minimum 3 years duration (Only for Admission to IITs)
- General Certificate Education (GCE) exam (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at Advanced (A) level (Only for Admission to IITs)
- High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva (Only for Admission to IITs)
- In case, the relevant qualifying examination is not a public exam, aspirants must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) exam at an earlier level (Only for Admission to IITs)
7. Document carry in exam day
- Admit card: This is a mandatory document without which candidates were not allowed to take JEE Main 2020. Candidates will have to carry a printed copy of Admit Card downloaded from NTA’s website.
- Photo: Candidates are also requested to carry one passport size photograph to the test center. This should be the same as uploaded on the JEE Main online application form. The photograph needs to be pasted on a specific space in the attendance sheet at your examination hall.
- Photo ID: Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid and non-expired) too is required. This can be your PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ Aadhaar Enrolment No/ Ration Card.
- Certificates: PWD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming relaxation under PwD category.
8. The things not to carry on exam day
- JEE Main 2020 aspirants will not be allowed to carry watches, calculators, jewelry, bags, purses, phones, etc. These are strictly prohibited at any of the JEE Main 2020 exam centers.
- Candidates will not be allowed to leave the exam hall without the permission of Centre Superintendent or the Invigilator concerned.
- No candidate will be allowed to carry any eatables, tea or coffee into the examination room during exam hours.
- Smoking and eating are strictly prohibited in the examination room.
- Diabetic students will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/ apple/ orange) and transparent water bottle. However, they will not be allowed to carry any packed foods like candy/chocolate/sandwich.
